Victory for St Aengus Bridgend.
On Tuesday 19th June, St Aengus Bridgend played Scoil Leinbh Íosa from Killymard in the County Final for middle schools girls Gaelic Football. The match was played in Mc Cúmhail Park in Ballybofey.  St Aengus Bridgend came out on top with a score of 6-8 to 3-5.  It was a fantastic game with Bridgend’s top scorer Lauren McCann scoring 4 goals 3 points.  Bridgend got off to a great start with Lauren getting two early goals. Bridgend finished the first half in style with a goal from Jade Aburckle.  It was a very close game in the first half with a scoreboard of 4-3 to 2-3 at half time.
In the second half the game was even tighter with the scoreboard getting quite close when Killymard made a good comeback by scoring two goals, but then Bridgend pulled away again with a few more goals and points.  Both teams took supporters with them with Bridgend taking all pupils from 1st to 6th class so when a team got a score there was large commotions from the stands which was very encouraging to all players. When the whistle was blown at the end of the game all Bridgend’s supporters waved their flags and banners and cheered like mad. Bridgend’s Coach Caolan Kelly and all the team were delighted with the win.
