November newsletter
The year is flying by and school thankfully it has an air of normality about it. That normality is possible because of the schools, children, and the parent’s continued vigilance. I would ask you to continue to wear face-coverings and socially distance yourselves when picking up and dropping off your children. Continue to remind your children of the importance of hygiene etiquette and practice it regularly at home.
The Department of Education has asked schools to circulate the following 1minute video for parent-focused public health advice about COVID-19 symptoms.
Parent/teacher meetings: These will take place over the month of November. Unfortunately, these will have to be done over the phone. The teachers will be communicating to you a time that suits you and the teacher.
Christmas plays and carols services. Currently, they are not allowed under current guidelines. This may be subject to change closer to the time.
Cold weather: Please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat scarf, and gloves with them at all times coming to school.
Hair: Please ensure that your child has their hair tied back and checked regularly for hair lice.
Nut allergy: A reminder that the school is a nut-free zone. There are children in the school with severe nut allergies.
Playground: We have completed work on the side of our pitch and swings. The children are loving them and we look forward to showing them off to parents in the future.
Library: We hope to commence work on our library shortly and this will be a great resource for the whole school. Again, work on our library depends on donations from parents.
Morning and after school clubs: Thank you everyone for your responses to our surveys and expression of interest notes. When restrictions are eased we will be ready to start these initiatives.
Donations and fundraising: Over the next couple of months we will be asking parents to donate what you can to the school. We have an exciting Parents Association fundraiser that will be announced in the next few weeks and our usual Christmas draws and donation envelopes. Give what you can and know that everything will be spent to make your child’s school experience even better.
Promotional video: The school is looking to do a promotional video for the school. If there are any budding film directors or someone who has some equipment like drones or film equipment, please let us know.
Enrolments: The school is now taking enrolments for the next academic year 2021/22. All enrolment forms can be found on the website or if you contact the office, a form will be sent out to you.
Stay safe,
Séamus
