We had a very successful STEM week in school before the Mid Term Break. The children were set the challenge to create an innovation using only recyclable and reusable materials. After a fantastic effort in collecting materials, the designing and innovating began. In Junior and Senior Infants the children created wonderful robots using a variety of different materials. In First and Second Class the children created and tested a marble run. In Third and Fourth Class the children designed and and tested a device that would launch a paper ball as far as possible. Finally in Fifth and Sixth Class the children created a parachute that would stop an egg from breaking when it landed. Every class succeeded in their task and the creativity and scientific thinking on show was amazing to see.
