March April Newsletter
Enrolments: Our junior infant class is filling up so any remaining application forms should be handed into the office as soon as possible to ensure a spot for next year.
Easter draw: The Easter draw will take place on Thursday the 30th of March and the last day to return the cards is Wednesday the 29th of March. Please support this cause. The school continues to invest in science, art, and IT equipment, etc. while constantly looking to improve our outdoor environment. All money gathered will be directly used to help your child so please give what you can.
New ASD class build: The school was granted two new ASD modular build classrooms for this September. These will be positioned down behind the hall. These are state-of-the-art buildings and they will provide a purpose-built classroom that meets the needs of our special needs children.
School uniform: There will be a school uniform week starting the week of the 17th of April. Please ensure your child is wearing their full school uniform at all times. If you require help with school uniforms, please contact the office directly. Full details of the school uniform can be found on the website or just click the link below.

Confirmation and communion: The confirmation will take place on Saturday the 29th of April at 11 pm and the Communion will take place on Saturday the 20th of May. We are busy preparing a choir for both occasions. There will be a permission slip sent through Aladdin to see if your child will be there on the confirmation day. (The communion permission will be sent at a later date) The idea behind this is to prepare a choir with children who commit to the day. You will not be asked to stay with your child, just drop them off and pick them up.
School closed: The school is closed on Friday the 31st of March at 12 pm for the Easter Holidays. The school will reopen on Monday the 17th of April.
Reminder: The School will be closed on Monday the 24th of April and Friday the 2nd of June for teacher in-service. These dates are dictated to us by the Department of Education. We apologise for any inconvenience. Click the link below for the updated school Calendar.

Sports Season: Internal school leagues continue in the school. Currently, the indoor junior hurling and camogie leagues are taking place in the school hall each day. We hope to have Gaelic football, hurling/camogie, and soccer leagues in the coming months. Please ensure your child has a change of clothes with them. The inter-schools leagues and cross country will also be taking place over the coming months and all the children who participate regularly in training will be brought to matches.
Congratulation to the boy’s team who won the county indoor hurling title and will now go on to play in the Ulster competition in Dungiven on the 31st of March. Well done to our indoor camogie team who were beaten narrowly in the final.
Hip hop continues for the junior classes until Easter and then the senior classes will have their lessons after Easter.
Well done to our girl’s and boys’ 5 a side soccer teams who finished runners-up in their groups in the Inishowen FAI tournament.
School books: The government has announced a free books scheme for all school children starting next September. We are awaiting details on the scheme and will relay any details when we know.
Engineer talk: We were delighted to have Ellen Kindlon in during the week who gave a talk to the fifth and sixth-class girls and boys on the possibility of becoming an engineer.

Seactaine na Gaeilge: Well done to everyone who sang, dance,d or ag caint as Gaeilge. It is one of the children’s favourite weeks of the year. We have used the week to relaunch our frasaí na seactaine (irish phrases for the week). We wish to encourage the link between school and home by using our frasaí. In the Aladdin app, there will be sound recording in the homework section of your home screen. Junior and senior infants will get one phrase for the week. 1st and 2nd classes will get two phrase, 3rd and 4th will get 3 phrases and 5th and 6th class will get 4 phrases a week. Please encourage this and you may even to able to pick up a thing or two from it also.
