Our County Indoor Hurling Champions took part in the Ulster Championship on Friday before the holidays. The 8 boys travelled to the amazing Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt. We were given a tough draw in Group A facing off against the Down, Fermanagh and Armagh winners. In the first game against Down, the boys dominated possession but could not get past the fantastic Down goalkeeper. The Down team had two shots in the game with both of them finding the net. In the second match, the boys showed why they were crowned county champions with a comprehensive 3-0 victory with some wonderful hurling on show. Unfortunately in the last group game the Armagh team got the break of the ball and won the game 3-0 meaning we finished third in the group and did not make the semi finals. The school is immensely proud of the boys and their achievements. They have been a wonderful representation of their families, their club and their school and created history after winning the first county title in 19 years. A massive thank you also has to be given to the parents and families who made the long trip to come and support the team. Training for the school team now begins when we return after the Easter Holidays for 4th-6th Class during lunchtimes and we will be running our second Hurling League during the next term.
