On Wednesday 5th and 6th Class went to Moville to learn all about the importance of Algae and how it is a sustainable source of vital resources. William McElhinney, a marine biologist, showed the children a variety of different species of algae while discussing their uses and variations. From toothpaste to moisturiser to oxygen production, the children learned all about how Algae can be used as a renewable source. William then explained the different ecosystems that we were discovering while looking for the Algae. He showed us all the crustaceans and snails and explained the differences between them. It was a very enjoyable day and a wonderful learning experience.
