The madness is in full swing here in school. No sign of the school winding down. We wind up for the last few weeks and hope to pack in as much as possible.
School closures: The school will be closed on Friday the 2nd of June for teacher in-service and Monday the 5th for the bank holiday. The school will close on Friday the 23rd of June at 12pm for the summer.
Art and Active week: The children are eagerly awaiting the next instalment of Arts and Active week from the 6th-9th of June. Mr. Kelly is finalising the timetable. The whole school will be going to the beach on one of the days and the sports day will take place on Friday. Parents are welcome to come into the school on Friday at 1pm sharp for our races. We ask parents for a contribution of €5 to cover buses/ artists etc.
Uniform: Thanks to everyone who made a great effort over the last few weeks. Please make sure that your child has their uniforms and tracksuits ready for September. Branded tracksuit bottoms and leggings are not part of the school uniform. Jumpers and uniforms do not need to crested. If anyone requires support in having a uniform please contact the school. The sixth class children will order their hoodies in September and they will be able to wear them as their uniform for the year.
Communion and confirmation: Well done to the boys and girls of second and sixth classes who made their communion and confirmation. The children filled us with joy and pride. You are all a credit to your families, school and community. A big thank you to all who helped, prepared, sang etc. for these very special days. You made the day very special for all the children.
Sport: The sporting season is well and truly underway. This week we are competing in the county quarter final in both boys and girls football after winning the Inisowen section. Our camogie players are in Carndonagh hoping to complete the double after the boys win. Our girls came runners up in the Ulster 5 a sides. Our 45 athletes competed very well in the Finn Valley County Athletics.
School tours: The children are all excited for their school tours. If there is any issue with regards to paying for the tours, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly and I will discreetly help any family.
Gaeltacht: Last Friday we welcomed back over 20 very tired but happy children. This was the first year that the school has sent children to the Gaeltacht. The principal of the Gaeltacht explained to us that they were the best behaved children that had ever come to the college. A big thank you to Mr. Kelly who organised the event. 5th class are already looking forward to next year.
