A big thank you also to our outgoing committee for all your hard work last year. The table quiz held last week raised just over €1000 for the school.

County Photos will be taking the children’s photographs on Friday. Please make sure your child is wearing their full school uniform. Proofs of the photos are sent home. You are under no obligation to buy these photographs.
The parent/teacher meetings will take place on Thursday the 30th of November. Further details will be sent out closer to the time. The only way to book your place will be through the Aladdin app. Please make sure you are using the app as important messages/permissions are sent out only through the app
Modular and ASD class update: Work is to commence on our new modular unit which will be located to the back of the hall. A window will be removed from the hall and replaced with a door which will connect the modular to the main building. Work is due to be complete in Mid-November. The asd reconfigured classes are almost complete and the children have moved in already. The two outdoor play areas and sink and storage units are being made and should be in place mid-November too. We promise to have an open day when the work is complete to show off our new state of the art school when it is complete.
Board of Management: The current BOM is due for renewal on the 30th of November. Thank you to Fiona Bonner and Charlie Doherty (Parent nominees) for their hard work over the last four years. The parent nominee letter has been circulated yesterday. If you wish to put yourself forward please return the signed sheet to the office by the 23rd of October 2023. Further details of the parent nominee can be found on the letter sent home on Tuesday.
Sport: We are in full swing with cross country, hurling/Camogie, gaelic football and soccer leagues all up and running. We pride ourselves on being an active school all year round. It starts at nine o’ clock every morning with our walk, jog or run around the track.
Debating and chess clubs: Mr. McEoin has set up lunchtime chess clubs and he is also getting the children ready to reclaim our county debating title.
Covid: There have been a few cases since the start of the new year and we ask parents to still notify the school if their child has a confirmed covid case. There are no close contact rules. If a child/parent has covid any other sibling can still come to school if there have been tested and symptom free. This is the same for any illness.
Nut free school: Reminder that the school is a nut free zone.
Hair lice: Our pal the hair mite is never too far away so please check your child’s hair on a regular basis. Below is a link of what to do if it arrives at your door.
Morning and after school club are busier than ever. The prices are €3 for the morning club. This starts at 8.20. €3 for the 2-3 slot, €5 for the 3-5 slot and €6 for the 2-5 slot. We ask parents to send in their money in an envelope to the school with your child’s name and the hours that they used the service.
Confirmation and Communion dates: The communion date is the 11th of May at 11am in Burt Chapel. The confirmation date is the 13th of April at 11am in St. Mura’s Fahan.
All Star: Congratulations to Mr. Oisín Gallen, one of our learning support teachers who has been nominated for a Gaelic Football All-Star. I don’t think it a coincidence that he moved to Bridgend and he became an All Star. Rumours are that he could be making the move to Burt GAA!!

My door is always open to suggestions to make our school even better,
