Our 2024 Junior Hurling League came to a close on Friday the 3rd of May. 58 children from Senior Infants, 1st Class and 2nd Class put their names forward to be part of the league. A wonderful sign for the future of hurling and camogie in the school. We had two groups with four teams in each. Group one included Ballyhale, Portmuna, Dunloy and Ballygunnar. Group two was made up of St Thomas’, Sarsfields, Cushendall and the hurling stronghold of Burt. After the wonderful group games with superb skills on show and four fantastic semi-finals, the final four teams remained to decide the cup and shield finals.

In the shield final, Burt and Dunloy put on a display of hurling that provided more entertainment than any inter county game could offer. With the breaks going in the way of Dunloy, they emerged victorious on a score line of 4-2.

After the excitement of the shield final, the cup final did not disappoint. Ballyhale and Cushendall were the final two teams after dominating the groups and semi-finals. Similar to the shield final, the hurling on display was exhilarating. Cushendall gave everything but Ballyhale emerged as well-deserving winners and crowned the Junior Hurling League Cup Winners 2024.

Well done to all of the children who took part and we look forward to getting the Colm Grant Cup up and running for the senior classes in the next few weeks.
